CYPRESS, Texas (KTRK) -- There is a pile of mattresses, furniture, and trash sitting outside of a donation box in Cypress.

"I've noticed that this pile has gotten increasingly big," said neighbor Rozanna Mukoro. "Every time I drive by, there's something else: a new mattress, a couch, an ottoman."

It sits on the property of Star Cinema Grill off Fry Road.

"It's frustrating. It doesn't look good. It doesn't look good, and it shouldn't be there," said neighbor Asif Adam.

ABC13 spoke with a property representative who said the donation box company, American Recyclers, never asked their permission to place it here.

"Not only is it an eyesore, but we've also just been worried that it could become dangerous," Mukoro said. "I don't know what invites illegal dumping. We don't know what it could cause, and that's just not something that we stand for. That's not a representation of our neighborhood."

ABC13 reached out to American Recyclers, and the general manager replied that she doesn't see a bin for this location in their system.

She alleges that their bins sometimes go missing and end up elsewhere because people steal and move them.

"I'm just concerned about the clothing bins in general. I know they have a good cause and they start off as something productive for the community," Mukoro said. "However, I notice just within the six years of me living here, oftentimes those bins turn into illegal dumping areas."

The donation bin company tells ABC13 they're sending someone to take the bin and pick up the trash.
